Calcula tempo médio por 100m a partir de distância total e tempo.

Pace/100m

How 100 m swim pace works

Swim pace is the time to cover 100 m: pace = (total_time / distance) × 100. Typical freestyle benchmarks: recreational 2:00–2:30 / 100 m, intermediate 1:30–1:50, advanced 1:15–1:25, world elite under 1:00. The formula is identical to running pace, just over a different distance. Backstroke and breaststroke are slower than freestyle; butterfly is the most energy-intensive stroke. Key efficiency metric: SWOLF (Swim Golf = lap time + strokes per lap) — lower means more efficient propulsion.

Example: 1500 m in 25:00 → (1500 / 1500) × 100 = 1:40 / 100 m.

Applications

Pool training, triathlon prep (Ironman 3.8 km, Olympic 1.5 km, Sprint 750 m), masters meets, Strava swim activities, and Garmin/Apple Watch swim metrics.

FAQ

Why per 100 m? It's the universal swimming standard regardless of pool size (25 m or 50 m) or race distance.

Is freestyle pace the same as other strokes? No — backstroke is roughly 8–12% slower, breaststroke 15–25% slower, butterfly comparable to freestyle in sprints but unsustainable over distance.

Pool vs open water? Open water is typically 5–15% slower (no walls, sighting, chop, wetsuit drag).
