From bar to psi without guessing

Your bike pump reads bar, the shop gauge reads psi, and the manual for that imported frame or German car uses whichever one you do not have in front of you. Same pressure, two different rulers. Type the value in bar and the psi figure appears as you type. It covers car and bicycle tyres, compressors, pool gauges and any European spec sheet that insists on bar.

One bar is 14.5038 psi because a bar is exactly 100 kPa and a psi is 6,894.76 Pa. Two things most converters skip: the old kgf/cm² marking still found on shop gauges is not the same as bar, sitting about 2% lower at 0.980665 bar; and this field runs bar to psi only, in one direction. For the way back, divide the psi value by 14.5038.

Check tyres cold. Driving heats the air and inflates the reading by a few psi, which tricks you into bleeding out pressure that was never really there. Remember too that a gauge shows pressure above atmospheric, so 32 psi in a tyre means 32 on top of the outside air; swapping units does not change that, it only changes the ruler. Everything is computed in your browser, with no data sent anywhere.

Divide by 14.5038. This page only goes bar to psi. A hundred psi, for instance, is 6.89 bar.
