psi, bar and the door jamb sticker
The owner manual talks bar, the pump at the gas station reads psi, and imported motorcycle manuals often mix the two. Type 2.2 where 32 was meant and you drive on flat tires, burning fuel and wearing the tread unevenly. Enter the value, pick the direction, and out comes the equivalent: 32 psi is about 2.21 bar, and 2.2 bar is about 31.9 psi.
The factor is 14.5038 psi per bar, exact enough for any gauge you will meet. Two notes about the screen: the result is a bare number with no unit printed beside it, so check which direction is selected before writing it down, and it carries up to six decimals, precision no service station gauge can deliver. Round to 0.1 bar or 1 psi. And kgf/cm2, still found on older gauges, is practically the same as bar, off by about 2%.
The correct pressure lives on the placard in the driver door jamb or inside the fuel filler flap, never on the number molded into the sidewall, which is the maximum the casing can hold. Check when the tires are cold, before driving, or add 3 to 4 psi if you already drove to the pump. Temporary spares often want around 60 psi. The conversion runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
