Mexican Food Calories
Estimates calories of common Mexican dishes (taco, burrito, guacamole) from grams.

Mexican-food calorie estimator
Calories per portion draw on USDA FoodData Central and FDA nutrition-label data, then scale to the serving size with kcal_total = kcal_per_100g × grams ÷ 100. As a rough guide, tacos al pastor run 250–300 kcal per piece. A burrito can land anywhere from ~700 to 1000 kcal depending on how much rice, beans and cheese go in. A quesadilla sits around 400–600 kcal, and nachos climb past 800 kcal once you pile on cheese, sour cream and guacamole. As an example, 100 g of a basic taco comes out near 220 kcal. Treat that as an order-of-magnitude check rather than a lab measurement, since recipes swing a lot between casual Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican preparations.
Applications
Used for diet tracking in apps like MyFitnessPal and Cronometer, where Mexican-cuisine entries are common at lunch and dinner. Also useful when reading nutrition labels (Tex-Mex chains such as Chili's or Outback disclose menu calories) or planning meals for weight management and obesity care. In Brazil, packaged foods follow the ANVISA nutritional-labeling rules, which use 100 g / 100 mL as reference.
FAQ
Why does my burrito have more calories than the table says? Adding cheese, sour cream, guacamole and rice can easily double the base value — check each component.
Are corn and flour tortillas the same? No — flour tortillas have ~30% more calories per gram due to added fat.
Authentic Mexican or Tex-Mex? Tex-Mex tends to be cheesier and heavier; authentic Mexican relies more on grilled meats and salsa, often with fewer calories.
Does this replace a nutritionist? No — it is a rough estimate based on average recipes.

Potential Alcohol from Brix
Estimate the potential alcohol of a must (wine, beer, kombucha) from the sugar content in degrees Brix, %ABV ≈ Brix · 0.55, assuming complete fermentation of the sugars. Brix measures the soluble solids (mostly sugar) of the must; fermentation converts that sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. It is a quick estimate used by winemakers and brewers to predict the final strength. Enter the content in degrees Brix.
F₀ Sterilization Value
Compute the F₀ value of a thermal process, F₀ = t·10^((T − 121.1)/z), the equivalent sterilization time at 121.1 °C (250 °F) with z = 10 °C, the reference for Clostridium botulinum. It is the universal 'currency' that compares thermal processes at different temperatures: an F₀ of 3 minutes is the minimum safety for low-acid canned foods (botulinum cook). Enter the time, the process temperature and the z-value.
