Standard door sizes
The Brazilian standard NBR 15930 lists the usual interior door sizes by width × height. You get 80×210 cm for living rooms and bedrooms, which is the default entry, 70×210 cm for bathrooms and service areas, and 90×210 cm for accessible doors (PMR, meaning Person with Reduced Mobility). The rough opening, or vão, has to be roughly 4 cm wider than the door leaf so the frame fits. Accessibility is required under Law 13.146/2015, the Brazilian Inclusion Law. In the US the equivalent is 36" (91 cm) for entry doors and 32" (81 cm) for interior ones. So an 80 cm leaf wants an 84 cm rough opening.
Applications
Handy when you're doing carpentry, construction, renovation work, or just ordering a pre-hung door kit. Where accessibility matters, the project has to follow NBR 9050 for universal design, plus the Brazilian Inclusion Law for public buildings and multi-family housing.
FAQ
Why is the bathroom door narrower? The 70 cm width buys you space in a cramped floor plan. The catch is that it doesn't meet accessibility rules, so PMR units have to use a 90 cm door instead.
What is the rough opening? It's the actual hole left in the wall. The door leaf comes out smaller because the frame, or batente, eats about 2 cm on each side and another 2 cm up top.
Does the height ever change? 210 cm is the norm, though "extra tall" doors at 240 cm show up a lot in high-end work. And older houses often run shorter, around 200 cm.
