How to use the timer?

Fill in hours, minutes and seconds with whatever time you want, then hit Start. While the countdown runs, the progress bar shows you visually how much is left. Once it hits zero, an audio alert goes off.

The timer runs fully in the browser, and the sound comes from the Web Audio API.

Countdown timer

A coffee press, oven time, a workout interval, that "just five more minutes" that turns into half an hour. A countdown timer with an alarm puts you in charge of time without watching the clock. You set hours, minutes and seconds, and the tool takes care of the warning.

While the countdown runs, a progress bar shows how much is left, and when it hits zero a sound alert goes off, so you don't miss it even from another tab. Use it in the kitchen, while studying, in focus sessions, in games or in any timed routine.

The timer runs entirely in the browser, with no install. You set the time, start it and get on with what you were doing, and the alert arrives right on time.

Frequently asked questions

Will the alarm sound if the tab sits in the background or the screen is locked?

The alert is an 880 Hz tone about one second long, generated by the browser itself, and it plays only if the tab stays alive and the volume is up. Because browsers throttle timers in hidden tabs, the alarm can run late by anything from a few seconds to about a minute on a minimised window or a sleeping phone. Keep the tab visible when the exact moment matters.

What is the longest countdown, and how do I set 90 minutes?

The fields go up to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, roughly four days. The minutes box is graduated to 59, so enter 90 minutes as 1 hour and 30 minutes, and 150 seconds as 2 minutes and 30. The progress bar measures against the total you set, and the number on screen rounds up, which is why it opens showing the full value.

I paused, edited the fields and the remaining time vanished. Why?

Editing the hours, minutes or seconds while the countdown is stopped reloads the timer with the new value and throws away the paused remainder. To carry on from where you stopped, press start without touching the fields. Reset also clears everything, and reloading the page wipes the countdown, since nothing is stored.
