Hijri ↔ Gregoriano

Conversor aproximado entre calendário hijri (islâmico lunar) e gregoriano.

Data hijri (aprox)

From a Gregorian date to the Hijri year

You got a document, a certificate or a news item dated in the Islamic calendar and need to place it on the civil calendar, or the reverse: to know which Hijri year a Gregorian date falls in. Despite the double arrow in the name, this page has a single field. You pick a Gregorian date in the picker and it returns the matching Hijri year, computed with an arithmetic formula and no external service.

The part most sites skip: there is no single Hijri calendar. The tabular version alternates 30 and 29 day months and adds 11 leap days over a 30 year cycle. Saudi Arabia follows Umm al-Qura, which is astronomical. And much of the Muslim world sets the start of Ramadan and Eid by actual crescent sighting, which can land one or two days apart. Another point: the Hijri year runs about 354 days, so one Gregorian year spans two Hijri years. 2026 opens in 1447 and turns 1448 in June.

Read only the year in the result. The number printed after the dash is not a valid Hijri month, it goes past 12, and the exact day is never shown on the page. For religious dates, contracts or official paperwork, confirm against the calendar actually adopted in the country involved. There is also no reverse direction here: you cannot type a Hijri date and get the Gregorian one. Everything is computed in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert Hijri to Gregorian on this page?
No. Even with the double arrow in the name, there is one field only, for a Gregorian date, and the output is the corresponding Hijri year.
Why are the day and month missing?
The output shows the year plus a second number that does not match any Hijri month. Take the year only and confirm day and month in a reference Islamic calendar.
Does the Hijri year change on 1 January?
No. It changes on 1 Muharram, which drifts about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. In 2026 that turn, from 1447 to 1448, falls in June.
