When the next Full Moon happens
You are planning a night photo session, a fishing trip or a camping weekend and need to know when the Moon will be full. The input field comes prefilled with a sample date: replace it with the date you care about, written as 2026-08-15, and you immediately get the next Full Moon date plus how many days are left. Note that the page never assumes today by itself, it always counts from the date you type.
Under the hood it counts lunations from a reference Full Moon (21 January 2000), adding 29.53058867 days per cycle. That is the mean lunation. The Moon's orbit is elliptical, so the real gap between two full moons swings between roughly 29.3 and 29.8 days, moving the instant by up to about 14 hours. Sometimes that shifts the calendar day: for August 2026 the page points to the 27th, but the partial lunar eclipse of 28 August shows the actual full moon lands on the 28th.
Always type year-month-day. Written as 15/08/2026 the field returns an invalid date message. The result is given in UTC, so anywhere in the Americas a Full Moon occurring just after UTC midnight was already visible the previous evening in your sky. If your plan depends on the exact hour rather than the day, cross-check an ephemeris. Everything is computed inside your browser, no date is sent to a server.
