Niacinamide cream percentage calculator
Niacinamide (vitamin B3, also called nicotinamide) ranks among the most studied actives in modern skincare. Topically, it tends to work in the 2–5% range for moisturizers and creams, climbing to 4–10% in serums. When you need to know how many grams of pure niacinamide go into a batch, the math is grams = batch_g × (target_% / 100). A 50 g cream at 5%, for instance, calls for 2.5 g of niacinamide powder.
Pushing past 10% rarely buys you anything extra, and on sensitive skin it can set off flushing, irritation or a passing redness. Dissolve the powder completely (it is water-soluble), hold the formula pH between 5.0 and 7.0, and run a 48 hour patch test before you make it part of your routine.
Applications
Niacinamide calms inflammation, reins in sebum, and fades post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It also shores up the skin barrier by prompting ceramide synthesis, and on top of that it works as an antioxidant. You will see it in well-known products like The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, La Roche-Posay Niacinamide 10%, and Eucerin Anti-Pigment. People usually reach for it with acne-prone skin, melasma, rosacea, enlarged pores, or the first signs of photoaging.
FAQ
Can I combine niacinamide with vitamin C? Yes. That old story about them canceling each other out has long since been put to rest, and modern stable formulations layer the two without any loss of efficacy.
Is niacinamide regulated by ANVISA? Yes. In Brazil it is registered as a Category 1 cosmetic ingredient, so it can be sold over the counter without a prescription as long as it stays within the usage limits.
How long until I see results? Pore appearance and oil control usually pick up within 4 weeks. Pigmentation and barrier repair take longer, generally 8–12 weeks of daily use before the change is obvious.
