Face Cream Amount per Use

Estimates face cream ml per application for adults.

Face Cream Application Amount

Most people use 0.5–1 g of facial moisturizer each time they apply it, which is where the old "pea-sized" advice comes from. The math for daily use is just mL_dia = aplicacoes × 1. Apply twice a day and you go through about 2 mL, so a 30 mL jar runs out in roughly two weeks, or close to 60 mL over a month.

The usual advice is to apply it morning and night, after you cleanse and after any serums, smoothing upward so the active ingredients stay put. Oily and combination skin tends to do better with a lightweight gel; if your skin is dry or older, a richer cream carrying ceramides, glycerin, squalane and panthenol makes more sense. A Korean 10-step routine piles on the layers, whereas a pared-down one is really just cleanse, moisturize and SPF.

Applications

Figuring out how long a jar lasts, working out cost-per-use between a 30 mL and a 50 mL size, budgeting for skincare, packing a travel kit, or weighing up brands such as CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, La Roche-Posay Toleriane, Neutrogena Hydro Boost and Vichy Minéral 89.

FAQ

How much face cream per application? Roughly a pea-sized amount, 0.5 to 1 g. That covers the whole face and neck without leaving a heavy film behind.

How long does a 30 mL jar last? Around a month if you apply it twice a day (roughly 1 mL daily), give or take depending on how much you use and how much skin you cover.

Day cream vs night cream, do I need both? Not always. For most people one all-rounder moisturizer plus daily SPF is plenty. The SBD recommends tailoring the routine to your own skin.
