In Brazil, nutritionists answer to CFN Resolution 600/2018 and to their regional councils (CRN1–CRN10), which put out reference fee tables for private practice. This estimate just runs total = consultations × rate. A first consultation usually lands somewhere between R$ 150 and R$ 400, and follow-ups (retornos) tend to cost 50–70% of that, which varies by region and by specialty.

A typical first visit covers anamnesis, anthropometry (weight, height, skinfolds, body composition), a 24-hour recall and a written meal plan. Plenty of clinics offer bioelectrical impedance (BIA) on top of that for an extra fee. ANVISA RDC 216/2004 covers nutritionists who work with food services; clinical practice falls under CFN Resolutions 600/2018 and 601/2018.

Handy when a nutritionist is putting together monthly packages, and when a patient wants a sense of what treatment will cost across the main specialties: sports nutrition (athletes, hypertrophy, endurance), maternal-infant (pregnancy, lactation, pediatrics), clinical nutrition (diabetes, dyslipidemia, kidney disease), oncology, bariatric pre/post-op, and functional or behavioral nutrition. In most cases follow-ups run monthly over 3–6 months.

FAQ

Is the CRN table mandatory? No. It is a non-binding minimum reference. Each professional sets their own price, though the council can step in against fees it considers abusively low (concorrência desleal).

Does the health plan cover nutritionist consultations? The Rol ANS guarantees a minimum number of sessions per year for certain conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, eating disorders, and pre/post bariatric care. Check the current Rol to be sure.

What does the meal plan include? A written, personalized plan: caloric target, macronutrient split, meal schedule, food substitutions, and a shopping list. It usually stays valid for 30 days, up to the follow-up.
