Sprint Review Timebox Calculator

The Scrum Guide 2020 ties the sprint review timebox to how long the sprint runs: review_min = 60 × weeks. So a 2-week sprint gets 2 hours and a 4-week sprint gets 4. Treat that as a ceiling, not a target. If the team gets through everything sooner, wrapping up early is perfectly fine.

The Product Owner walks stakeholders through the increment, and their feedback shapes how the next sprint gets planned. Don’t mistake it for a formal presentation with slides and rehearsals, though. It’s a working session where the team and the stakeholders look at what got built and adjust the Product Backlog together.

Applications

This is where Scrum’s empirical feedback loop actually turns. You come out of it with reshuffled backlog priorities, fresh items prompted by how stakeholders reacted, and a clearer read on whatever shifted in the market or the business while the sprint was running. A good review leaves everyone agreeing on what comes next. It isn’t a green–light approval ceremony.

FAQ

Who attends? The Scrum Team, plus whichever key stakeholders the Product Owner brings in: users, sponsors, dependent teams, support reps.

Is the review the same as the retrospective? No. The review looks at the product, meaning what got built; the retrospective looks at the process, meaning how the team worked.

Can we skip the review? None of the Scrum events are optional. Drop the review and you lose the one official spot to inspect and adapt the product itself.
