DnD 5e Experience Points per Level

Your table tracks experience instead of using milestone leveling, and at the end of every session someone asks how far off the next level is. The table is right there in the book, but finding two rows and subtracting them mid-conversation slows the group down. You type the character's current level and the page shows where that level starts, what the next one requires, and the gap between them.

The thresholds are the standard fifth edition ones: level 2 starts at 300 XP, level 5 at 6,500, level 11 at 85,000 and level 20 at 355,000. The steps are far from even. Going from 1 to 2 costs 300 points, 4 to 5 costs 3,800, and 10 to 11 already costs 21,000, which is why campaigns feel like they stall in the middle tiers. The field accepts 1 through 20; anything outside is clamped and decimals are rounded.

Read the number carefully: it is the XP at which the level begins, not what your character currently holds. If you are level 5 sitting on 8,200 XP, you need 14,000 minus 8,200, which is 5,800, not the full 7,500 gap between the two tiers. The tool does not work backwards from a total to a level either, so for that, check which threshold your total has passed most recently. Everything is computed in the browser.
