Business Days Calculator

Calculate the number of business days (Monday to Friday) between two dates. Shows total days, business days and weekends.

How to use?

Enter the start and end dates of the period. From there the tool counts the working days (Monday through Friday), the total number of days and how many land on weekends. It comes in handy for contract deadlines, project delivery dates and vacation planning.

Count the business days between two dates

A delivery deadline, an SLA calculation, counting workdays. Plenty of things call for the number of business days, not the running total. The tool counts how many business days, Monday to Friday, fall between two dates and leaves the weekends out.

The result comes itemised, with the period's total days, how many are business days and how many land on a weekend, so you get the whole picture. It helps you estimate a project deadline, plan a delivery, calculate work time or check a schedule.

Choose the start and end dates, and the count shows up right away, worked out in the browser itself. No calendar to open and count on your fingers.

Frequently asked questions

Do public holidays count as business days here?
They do, and they count as working days. The tally looks only at the weekday: anything falling Monday through Friday adds to the working total, national, state and city holidays included. A carnival week, for instance, shows up as five working days. When your deadline follows an official calendar, subtract the holidays by hand from the figure shown, checking first how many of them land on a weekday inside the range.
Why is the total one day more than the gap between my two dates?
Because of the Include end date in count box, which starts ticked. With it on, the range runs from the start date through the end date inclusive: Monday to Friday of the same week gives 5 working days and 5 total days. Untick it and the end date drops out, so the same range returns 4 and 4. Keep it ticked for deadlines; untick it to count intervals, like hotel nights.
A red message shows up and the numbers vanish. What now?
That warning means the end date landed before the start date. The tool will not count backwards or return a negative figure, so just swap the two dates around. The result boxes also stay hidden while either field is empty, since the calculation runs only once both dates are filled. Past that there is no cap on the range: spans of several years get walked day by day without trouble.
