Which division that weight falls into

News breaks that a fighter is moving up and the question follows: is 69.85 kg still super welterweight or already middleweight? Professional boxing divisions were drawn in pounds, and converting them to kilograms leaves awkward decimals nobody memorizes. Type a weight in kg and the page names which of the seventeen divisions it lands in, without digging through a sanctioning body's table.

The limits are the professional ones converted from pounds: 47.6 kg (105 lb) for minimumweight, 61.23 (135 lb) lightweight, 66.68 (147 lb) welterweight, 72.57 (160 lb) middleweight, 79.38 (175 lb) light heavyweight and 90.72 (200 lb) cruiserweight. Anything above that is heavyweight. Each cutoff is inclusive, so 63.5 kg is still super lightweight while 63.6 moves up to welterweight. Division names are printed in English on both language versions of the page.

Two limits worth knowing. Olympic boxing uses a much shorter set of divisions, and the WBC bridgerweight class, capped at 101.6 kg, is missing here, so anything between 90.72 and 101.6 reports as heavyweight. There is no floor either: 30 kg also returns minimum. Use it to see where a weight sits, but the rulebook of whichever body sanctions the fight is what governs the official weigh-in. The classification runs in your browser, with the input labels in Portuguese.

Frequently asked questions

How many professional boxing divisions are there?
Seventeen, from minimumweight to heavyweight. The tool covers all of them, with limits expressed in kilograms.
Can I enter the weight in pounds?
No, the field expects kilograms. Divide pounds by 2.2046 to convert: 147 lb is 66.68 kg, exactly the welterweight ceiling.
Does it apply to amateur boxing?
No. Olympic and amateur divisions differ and there are fewer of them. This table is the professional one.
