Play Pac-Man in the browser

It's hard to find a game as recognisable as Pac-Man. The mission is to guide the character through the maze eating all the dots while escaping the four ghosts. This playable version recreates the classic chase straight in the browser, and you don't need to install a thing.

Movement through the maze sits on the arrows. The trick is in the big pellets: eat them and the situation flips, leaving the ghosts vulnerable for a few seconds, which opens the door for you to hunt them and rack up extra points. All the fun lies in balancing dot collection against the escape.

With no sign-up and running entirely in the browser, it's a dose of arcade nostalgia for whenever the urge for a classic strikes.

Frequently asked questions

What are the controls and how does the game start?
The game starts on its own as soon as the page loads, with 3 lives; the arrow keys steer, and the Iniciar / Reiniciar button (start/restart) begins again from scratch at any moment. When caught, Pac-Man returns to his starting spot and loses a life — the maze stays as it was, with the eaten dots gone. It is keyboard only, with no touch controls, so playing on a phone is out. The side tunnels of the maze teleport Pac-Man from one edge to the other.
How much is each item worth, and how do I win?
Each dot is worth 10 points and each power pellet 50. The power pellet leaves the ghosts vulnerable for about 5 seconds: eating a ghost in that state earns a flat 200 points — without the arcade 200/400/800/1600 chain — and it respawns at the centre of the maze. Victory comes from clearing every dot and pellet; losing all 3 lives ends in GAME OVER. It is a single stage: no fruit, no later levels, no saved high score.
Do the ghosts behave like in the arcade?
No — the AI is simplified and, on top of that, the maze is far more crowded: there are 11 ghosts, the first four in the classic colours and the rest in white. At every step each ghost decides fifty-fifty between moving in whichever direction shortens the distance to you (or lengthens it, while vulnerable) and turning at random — with none of the individual patterns of Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, and no chase-and-scatter waves from the original. The result is a more chaotic hunt and, with that many ghosts, surprisingly hard.
