The rough math behind the dog bowl
The bag prints a feeding chart in tiny type, and it never quite matches your dog's actual weight. So you guess: fill the bowl, the dog cleans it, and six months later there is a belly. This page runs the simple arithmetic that gives you a starting point. Enter the weight in kilograms, pick the size class, and you get a grams-per-day figure to compare against whatever you are serving now.
Inside it is one multiplication and nothing else: small size uses 30 g per kilo, medium 25, large 20. A 10 kg medium dog comes out at 250 g a day; a 40 kg large dog at 800 g. The factor drops as size goes up because big dogs burn less energy per kilo of body weight. What the math ignores: the calorie density of the food, which ranges from roughly 3,200 to 4,200 kcal per kilo, plus age, neutering and activity level. Those are exactly the variables that move the real portion most.
Treat the number as a first guess and adjust by the animal, not the chart. You should feel the ribs with a flat hand without pressing, and see a waist looking down at the dog. Puppies, pregnant females and overweight dogs need the proper veterinary calculation instead, starting from resting energy (70 times weight to the power 0.75) with a life-stage factor on top. Split the total across two or three meals. A negative weight returns negative grams, silently. Labels are in Portuguese; it all runs in your browser.
