Title Keyword Position Analyzer

Find where your main keyword appears in the page title. Since earlier keywords carry more SEO weight in Google, optimize your title to rank better.

Where the keyword falls inside the title

The position of the term in the title carries weight, if less than was claimed ten years ago. The reason is more behavioural than algorithmic: the start of the title is what a person reads first in the results list, and it is what survives truncation when the title runs too long to fit. A term at the end stands a good chance of not appearing at all.

Enter the title and the term and the page shows which word it starts at, what percentage of the title precedes it and an assessment. The comparison normalises accents and case, so the term is found even when written differently from the title — which avoids the commonest false negative in this kind of check.

Use the number sensibly. A title starting with the term out of obligation reads artificially, and an artificial title lowers the click-through rate, which is what actually matters. The usual balance is having the term within the first sixty characters, preferably before any brand separator, and written the way a person would write it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ideal title length?
Google truncates by pixel width rather than character count, but in practice something around sixty characters tends to fit. Going beyond is not a penalty — the title simply appears truncated, and whatever was at the end is lost.
Does Google rewrite my titles?
Frequently, yes. It swaps when it judges another text describes the page better for that query, drawing on headings, link text or the site name. A clear title consistent with the content lowers the chance of a rewrite, but does not eliminate it.
Does repeating the keyword help?
No, and it hurts twice over: it consumes space that could carry useful information and makes the title look like spam to a reader. One well-placed occurrence returns more than three stacked up.
