Brazilian Holidays

Lists Brazilian national holidays (including movable: Carnival, Easter, Good Friday, Corpus Christi) for any year between 1900 and 2100.

    Which holidays appear here?

The list covers the Brazilian national holidays set by federal law. Some are fixed (New Year, Tiradentes, Labour Day, Independence Day, Our Lady of Aparecida, All Souls', Republic Day, Black Awareness and Christmas), while others are movable (Carnival, Good Friday, Easter and Corpus Christi).

For the movable ones, everything starts from Easter, which we compute with the Meeus/Jones/Butcher algorithm. From that date, Carnival falls 47 days before, Good Friday 2 days before and Corpus Christi 60 days after.

The whole calculation runs in your browser. State and municipal holidays are not included.

    Brazil's national holidays

With the whole list at hand, it's simple to plan the year, bridge a day off or just check whether that date lands on a holiday. This tool shows Brazil's national holidays, the movable ones included, which shift every year and are the hardest to guess.

You'll find both the fixed holidays, such as Christmas and Independence Day, and the movable ones that come off Easter: Carnival, Good Friday and Corpus Christi. With everything sorted by date, it's easier to spot the bridge days, schedule trips and put together the year's work or study calendar.

It's a reliable reference for the whole year, with no need to cross-check several sources. The calculation of the movable holidays is done in the browser.
